Just for Me: Coastal Explorers

This sensory-friendly museum session welcomes individuals and families with diverse sensory and accessibility needs. Exhibition sound and lighting are adjusted, and visitors can explore at a comfortable pace in a quiet, accepting environment.

The Coastal Explorers activation invites families to build a shoreline using sand and other sensory materials while learning about challenges facing coastal areas. Child- and adult-size sensory backpacks containing noise-reducing earmuffs and sensory toys are available from the front kiosk on a first-come basis.

No event registration is required, but paid museum admission is normally necessary. A limited number of complimentary admissions may be requested through the museum’s Just for Me ticket-request form. Families can also review the event page’s social narrative before visiting.
