This theater program connects two exhibitions through Revolutionary War history, replica clothing, and the experiences of modern Kentucky service members. Guests will meet the artists and historians behind Revolutionary Threads, hear how the clothing and objects represent Patriot ancestors, and learn about I Too Am a Kentuckian from Brigadier General Rob Givens and Colonel Amy McGrath. Light refreshments are provided.

Program outline

  1. Gather in the Brown-Forman Theatre for a film about the American Revolution and opening remarks from museum and Kentucky Society Daughters of the American Revolution representatives.
  2. Exhibition co-designer and curator Sandy Marting, historical clothing designer Janet Freeman, and artist and logistics contributor Leslie James introduce Revolutionary Threads and recognize descendants and participating NSDAR chapters.
  3. Rob Givens and Amy McGrath discuss their military service and Kentucky roots as part of the overview of I Too Am a Kentuckian.
  4. After the theater portion, guests may continue to the Revolutionary Threads gallery for questions and additional insight from the specialists.

Admission to the program is included with paid museum admission, but advance ticket reservations are required.
