Route

  1. Begin at the Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa main parking area at Via Goleta and Lynn Road.
  2. Walk the signed approach toward the Satwiwa area and join the hiker-only Satwiwa Loop Trail shown on the official map.
  3. Follow the full loop through the grassland and chaparral, crossing the documented wooden bridge and uneven stone steps.
  4. Return on the signed approach to the main parking area.

NPS reports just under 500 feet of gain and minimal grade changes, but the route includes a small set of uneven stone steps and a wide wooden bridge. Exact surface composition, numeric grade, cross-slope, minimum width, and every junction are not published. The trail is hikers-only and the main lot is open 8 a.m. to sunset.
