Meet local Egyptologists and investigate how ancient Egyptians turned the papyrus plant into a writing surface. The drop-in demonstration also explores the plant’s other historical uses and connects with The Egyptian Book of the Dead exhibition. The program is presented in English and Spanish.

Planning your visit

  • The family activity itself does not require a ticket, but every visitor needs a timed-entry Getty Villa reservation; reservations are released up to six weeks ahead.
  • Parking carries a separate fee.
  • In galleries, only front-facing child carriers are allowed, and strollers must be smaller than 31 × 52 inches. Complimentary strollers and wheelchairs are available first-come, first-served at the T1 parking level and Entrance Hall coat check.
