- Begin at Red Spring Picnic Area in Calico Basin.
- Join the signed boardwalk and follow it around the salt-grass meadow and interpretive signs.
- Complete the half-mile circuit back at the picnic-area parking.
Good to know
The January 2026 BLM guide calls this wheelchair accessible and publishes 50 feet of gain, but does not publish numeric grade, cross-slope, boardwalk width, edge protection, or current board condition. Accessibility can change with maintenance and weather. This start is outside the fee Scenic Drive, but heat and posted closures still matter.
