Route

  1. Drive to the last parking area at Willow Spring Picnic Area, where pavement ends and gravel begins.
  2. Take the Petroglyph Wall Trailhead on the left and identify the continuation before entering the gravelly wash.
  3. Cross the wash only when dry and follow the rocky trail to the signed rock-writing panel.
  4. Turn around at the panel and retrace the route to the parking area.

Good to know

The trail crosses a gravelly wash with rocks up to small-boulder size; BLM recommends the ability to lift feet at least four inches and suggests trekking poles for balance. The wash will likely be impassable after rain. The current 2026 guide lists 47 feet of gain while the accessibility page says about 30 feet; both official values remain visible in research.
