KC's Lawn Party Quick Paint Contest

Artists can paint outdoors during KC's Lawn Party and compete for a $500 purchase award. Check-in and surface stamping take place at the KC Parks tent near the west-side stage from 3:30–4 p.m.; painting runs from 4–6:30 p.m., followed by judging and the award announcement.

Traditional media including oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, ink, and graphite are accepted. Work must be created entirely on location during the competition, using a blank or solid-color background stamped at check-in. Artists may work anywhere within Theis Park or the Nelson-Atkins grounds, then return the finished piece on an easel for judging. The winning artwork becomes KC Parks property. At least six competitors are needed for the prize to be awarded.
