Public historian and curator Christina Loya will discuss the making of Connecting Cultures Across Kansas City: The Hand-in-Hand Folk Art Collection. The exhibition brings together more than 200 rarely displayed works from around the world, with particular attention to Latin American and American Southwest folk art, and considers how folk art expresses shared experiences and community values.

The talk will look behind the exhibition at its research, object-selection process, and featured stories. Participants will learn more about the artists, traditions, and communities represented in the collection and how the exhibition seeks to build cross-cultural understanding. The exhibition remains on view through January 10, 2027.
