This guided downtown walk highlights Hoosier women whose service during conflicts has often gone underrecognized, including female soldiers, nurses, and first responders. The route connects stories of bravery and commitment during a two-mile historical tour.

Plan for the walk

  • The tour starts and ends at the History Center and may cross uneven roads and sidewalks.
  • Check-in opens 30 minutes before departure; meet the guide in the Welcome Center lobby no later than 10 minutes before the start.
  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes, and bring water.
  • Free parking behind the History Center is accessed from New York Street and validated for tour participants.

The tour generally proceeds in rain and warm weather. Flooding, thunderstorms, tornado conditions, or a heat advisory may cause cancellation; registered guests will be emailed at least two hours beforehand and refunded. A canceled tour will not be rescheduled.
