Butler–Tarkington
This 1987 fantasy adventure begins after Buttercup believes her love Westley has been killed by pirates and finds herself caught in Prince Humperdinck’s plans. Rob Reiner’s blend of romance, comedy, swordplay, and fairy-tale adventure runs 98 minutes and is rated PG.
Plan your evening
The lawn opens at 7 p.m., and the movie begins at dusk. Families may bring blankets, low chairs, snacks, nonalcoholic drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, and bug spray. Concessions, beer, wine, soda, and water are sold until 30 minutes after the feature begins. Outside alcohol, pets, large candles, knives, and items that are difficult to carry down the amphitheater steps are prohibited.
The calendar lists this screening as sold out. Children age 15 and younger must remain with an adult. Reserved seating, when offered, consists of armless low-profile chairs in Row G; prepaid 4-by-5-foot blankets can be collected at the venue and kept.
Weather and accessibility
The event is rain or shine. Inclement weather moves the film to the Tobias Theater at 9 p.m., and ticket holders receive an email about any change.
