Jazz at the Center

Pianist, composer, and producer J Thomas II closes the summer concert series with SoulBook, a modern reimagining of the Great American Songbook. Leading The Situation, an ensemble of innovative Indianapolis musicians, he rebuilds familiar standards through the sounds of contemporary Black music, drawing inspiration from artists such as J Dilla, Quincy Jones, and D’Angelo.

Plan your evening

• Doors open at 6 p.m.; music begins at 7 p.m.
• The terrace has limited seating, so bring a lawn chair or blanket.
• Food from The Jazz Kitchen will be available for purchase, along with beer, wine, and soft drinks.
• Check in through the main entrance on 67th Street.
• Use the lot east of the Art Center or street parking on 67th Street; overflow parking is available on Ferguson Street and Cornell Avenue. IndyGo Route 19 and the Red Line serve the area.

The outdoor concert welcomes all ages, and children 12 and younger attend free with a paid adult. Organizers will notify ticket holders if bad weather causes a cancellation; the announced rain date is August 26.
