Program
The Houston Symphony performs an open-air classical program led by conductor Taichi Fukumura, with pianist Eva Gevorgyan. The evening’s repertoire includes Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 1 in E minor, Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major. The official host presents the concert as a relaxed family outing and an accessible introduction to a major orchestra. The performance lasts approximately two hours and will not be livestreamed.
Seating and weather
Admission is free throughout the venue. Covered seating requires a free assigned ticket; online tickets are offered beginning at 10am the day before the concert through noon on the performance day, while supplies last. Orders are limited to four tickets per person age 16 or older. Additional tickets are reserved for in-person pickup when the box office opens one hour before the performance. Hillside seating is unticketed and first come, first served—families can bring a blanket or lawn chair. Review the venue’s seating guidance before attending.
The show proceeds rain or shine unless dangerous weather makes cancellation necessary. Picnics, outside food, drinks, and coolers are welcome, but glass containers, grills, and open flames are prohibited. A concession stand is also available. The closest free parking is in Hermann Park lots A, C, F, G, and H; paid covered parking is available at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, with accessible spaces along Hermann Park Drive. Listening devices are available from security with a state-issued ID deposit, and accessible covered seating can be arranged through the box office. More preparation details are available in Miller’s visitor guide.
