Dr. Lakshmi Srivaths presents an evidence-based introduction to heavy menstrual bleeding, including symptoms, the difference between typical and abnormal menstruation, possible causes, evaluation, complications, and available treatments.

The talk also addresses common misconceptions—such as whether the condition runs in families, can safely be ignored, or causes other health problems—and explains why timely diagnosis and care matter. Dr. Srivaths is a pediatric hematology professor and directs UTHealth Houston’s Pediatric Thrombosis Program, with particular expertise in bleeding disorders affecting adolescent girls.

Attendance is free with an RSVP. A $10 donation is suggested for guests who would like to help cover lunch and parking.
