Meet the Houston Area Bat Team beside Waugh Drive Bridge for an outdoor introduction to Mexican free-tailed bats. Educators share family-friendly facts while the colony—potentially numbering around 300,000 in summer—forms its swirling emergence near sunset.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and insect repellent. The program is free and begins roughly 30 minutes before sunset at the observation deck along Allen Parkway; free registration is available.
