Detroit in Context Downtown Walking Tour

A City Institute guide leads an approximately two-mile walk connecting Detroit's past, present, and possible future. Stops and discussion cover Campus Martius, Spirit Plaza, the Guardian Building, the Spirit of Detroit, the former Paradise Valley district, population loss, blight, and projects shaping today's downtown.

The tour directly addresses racist policies affecting Indigenous and Black communities. Accommodation requests should be submitted to the organizer at least two weeks beforehand. Ticket revenue helps support the institute's free public-history programs.
