The Michigan Science Center hosts a free, all-ages day of hands-on art and cultural dance during Detroit’s Concert of Colors festival. Programming spans indoor and outdoor areas of the museum.

At the science center

  • 10 a.m.–4 p.m.: Arts & Scraps leads family creative activities in the parking lot.
  • Noon–1 p.m.: Marca and Reg Pettibone present an Indigenous dance experience on the Science Stage.
  • 2–3 p.m.: Lisa Montes teaches a beginner flamenco workshop designed for everyone to join.

The museum’s reservation page offers complimentary timed-entry choices from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Festival programming is rain or shine, with both indoor and outdoor options. Families attending outdoor activities may want chairs or blankets, sunscreen, water, and comfortable walking shoes.

Accessibility and arrival

The museum has seating throughout the building, free first-come wheelchair rentals, family and gender-inclusive restrooms, and a nursing room. Parking options include the museum lot, nearby metered spaces, the Cultural Center lot, Wayne State structures, and the Rackham Memorial Parking Garage; fees and operating hours vary.
