Fair Park
Explore the nature that makes Texas distinctive during a themed, hands-on afternoon for homeschool families. The program welcomes students across multiple ages and learning levels, with registration options spanning Pre-K through 12th grade.
What to expect
Families check in at the front lobby, then work through educational activity centers at their own pace and in any order. A typical Homeschool Day begins with an introduction, topic lesson, and hands-on activity or experiment. The second hour may feature a craft, animal encounter, or private tour; the exact combination can vary by session.
Advance reservations are required so staff can prepare enough materials. Members should bring proof of an active membership. Families may arrive before the program or remain afterward to explore the botanical gardens, tropical butterfly house, reptile area, outdoor playscape, garden trains, ponds, and other attractions included with admission.
Accessibility and arrival
The Butterfly House is wheelchair accessible, and the gardens have accessible paths and ramps. The reservation form provides space to describe mobility, hearing, language, or other support needs. Enter Fair Park through Gate 6 for the Texas Discovery Gardens parking lot. The DART Green Line’s Martin Luther King Jr. Station is about one block from Gate 6; Fair Park Station is also usable but requires a longer walk through the park.
