Children entering kindergarten through fourth grade explore the systems that keep the human body moving, thinking, and growing. Activities introduce organs and their functions, healthcare careers, healthy habits, and the science behind effective handwashing. Campers also spend time exploring the museum’s exhibit halls.
Enrollment and supervision
This session has reached capacity, but the museum provides an online waitlist. Discovery Camp classes range from 5 to 23 children, with two educators and one or two teen volunteers in each classroom. Educators have completed or are pursuing post-secondary degrees in science, arts, or education; they are background checked and certified in basic CPR and first aid.
What families should know
- Campers must be at least 5 years old and fully toilet trained. Grade placement is based on the grade the child will enter in fall.
- A purchased ticket and completed Procare registration are required to attend. Registration covers medications, allergies, learning needs, immunizations, and emergency contacts.
- Pack a lunch, one or two nonrefrigerated snacks, and a reusable water bottle. Separately purchased catered lunches with snacks are also available.
- Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Choose comfortable clothing that may get messy or wet, add layers for indoor and outdoor activities, and send a change of clothes for younger children.
- A valid photo ID is required at pickup; exact arrival and pickup instructions come with the ticket confirmation.
- Staff generally cannot administer medication, so campers must be able to self-administer required medicine, with reasonable ADA accommodations available.
Review the museum’s Discovery Camp policies for detailed health, accessibility, behavior, and cancellation procedures.
