Graphix Presents: Comics, Courage and Creativity!

Five popular graphic-novel creators—Jim Benton, Jamar Nicholas, Dav Pilkey, Maria Scrivan, and Raina Telgemeier—share stories, drawing, humor, and the creative paths behind their books. Each artist receives a stage spotlight, and attendees will see previews of graphic novels that have not yet reached bookstores. The program is presented as family programming in partnership with the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, Scholastic Graphix, and the National Cartoonists Society.

Afternoon schedule

• Doors open at 1 PM, with welcome remarks at 1:50 PM.
• From 2–3:15 PM, the five artists give consecutive 15-minute presentations covering drawing from life, making humor, transforming awkward experiences into stories, creating heroes and big problems, and celebrating neurodiversity and creativity.
• From 3:30–5:30 PM, Dav Pilkey hosts a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity on the auditorium stage while author signings and book sales take place nearby.

The ticket includes the Pilkey meet-and-greet. Guests will receive a color-coded group at entry and will be called to the stage by group; Pilkey can sign one book per family. Telgemeier will sign Facing Feelings and pose for requested photos, while Benton, Scrivan, and Nicholas will also sign books. National Cartoonists Society Kids artists will participate in additional lobby signings and sales, and the Wexner Center Store will sell books and merchandise.

Special-event parking costs $10 per car at the Ohio Union South Garage and must be paid by credit card when entering. Families requiring accommodations can consult the Wexner Center’s accessibility information or contact its accessibility team.
