The Flats
Students get a hands-on introduction to the people and jobs that keep an aquarium running. Marine educators, aquarists, divers and animal-care specialists explain their work while participants explore careers in marine science, conservation and animal care.
Program activities include feeding stingrays, visiting the animal-food preparation kitchen, interviewing members of the dive team and trying tasks modeled on an Aquarium employee’s workday. The program is for students entering grades 6–9; this listing’s age range is limited to participants who are still age 12 or younger.
Parents and siblings do not join the career program, but they may purchase regular admission and tour the Aquarium independently during the session.
