This introductory class examines the benefits satellites have brought to low Earth orbit, the accelerating competition to launch more of them, and the hazards posed by orbital debris. The discussion centers on the responsibilities involved in limiting space junk. New participants are welcome; attendance at the earlier Crowded Skies class is not required.

The series is led by Observatory Program Manager Nicole Capella, M.A., an adjunct philosophy professor at Thomas More University. Capella developed the material during a decade of college teaching and presents it here without the reading and homework of a college course.
