Meet members of the Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois and explore fossils from Mazon Creek, a fossil-rich area about 60 miles from Chicago. Its specimens preserve evidence of a tropical forest beside a shallow marine environment roughly 300 million years ago.
Presenters Jeremy Zimmerman, Rich Holm, and Field Museum collections associate Jack Wittry will share discoveries from the region and introduce some of ancient Illinois’ plants and animals. This Meet a Scientist program offers an up-close look at research and real collection material in the Grainger Science Hub.
