Malott Family Penguin Encounter

Enter the African penguin habitat for a small-group introduction to the colony and the daily lives of penguins at the zoo and along the southern African coast. The hour includes front-of-habitat, behind-the-scenes, and in-habitat portions. Penguins decide whether and how long to approach, and guests cannot touch or feed them.

Participants must be at least 6, and ages 6–17 require a paid adult. Groups are capped at eight. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory for the supplied protective gear. Expect short walks, a foot bath, sitting, fish odors, and outdoor conditions. Tickets are online-only and must be booked at least 24 hours ahead.
