Malott Family Penguin Encounter

Enter the African penguin habitat for a small-group introduction to the colony and the daily lives of penguins at the zoo and along the southern African coast. The 60-minute program includes front-of-habitat, behind-the-scenes, and in-habitat portions. Penguins choose whether and how long to approach; participants may not touch or feed them.

Guests must be at least 6 and all need tickets. Ages 6–17 require a paid adult, with one adult per four minors. Groups are limited to eight. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory for the provided shoe covers and gaiters. Expect short walks, a sanitation foot bath, sitting, strong fish odors, and outdoor conditions. Tickets are online-only and due at least 24 hours ahead. This occurrence was sold out when inspected but remains scheduled.
