Despite the published title, the official class description focuses on orchid repotting. This beginner-friendly workshop covers how to repot an orchid with minimal stress, how to recognize the best time to repot, and when a plant should be left undisturbed. Participants will also compare growing media and learn how to choose one that fits their growing space and watering habits.

Instructor Jeremy Losaw has grown orchids for more than 20 years and serves as the official photographer for the North Carolina Orchid Judging Center. The organizer also notes that he has received two major American Orchid Society photography awards and seven AOS awards for his orchids.

Getting there

Weekday visitors should use a paid visitor deck; East Deck 1 is recommended. A small number of free spaces are available in front of the greenhouse but often fill quickly. The greenhouse is wheelchair accessible.
