July’s theme is Creative Cartography. Homeschool students and their caregivers begin with an introduction in the garden’s story-time area, then move among facilitated activity stations featuring hands-on exploration, guided observation, creative projects, and age-adjusted nature-journal prompts. Families may continue exploring Wing Haven’s three garden properties after checking out with staff.

The program is designed for ages 4–16, with different challenge levels available at each station. Younger siblings may accompany the family with an adult, and adult educators or chaperones are not charged. Advance registration is required; this session is currently sold out and has a waitlist.

What to bring

  • A journal for recording observations and responding to prompts
  • Outdoor clothing that can handle dirt, mud, and the stream bed; boots are welcome
  • No bathing suits—the stream is not a pool, though children may dip their toes in the water

The program proceeds in rain or other ordinary weather, with outdoor shelter available. Wing Haven will cancel and notify participants if severe weather makes the program unsafe.
