What to expect

  • Take the 4:30 p.m. ferry to Spectacle Island and set up tents after 5:30 p.m.
  • Optional evening activities include a sunset nature walk, stargazing, bingo, lawn games, a Junior Ranger program, art, a wellness station, and s'mores. Programming concludes by 9:30 p.m.
  • Quiet hours run from 10 p.m.–7 a.m. Breakfast is offered from 8–10 a.m., and gear must be packed by 11 a.m.

Families must bring tents with stakes no longer than eight inches, bedding and sleeping pads, weather-appropriate outdoor gear, cooking and eating supplies, and enough food and nonalcoholic drinks. Cooking is restricted to portable backpacking stoves in a designated beach area. Fires, charcoal grills, alcohol, smoking, vaping, amplified sound, pets except service dogs, collecting natural or cultural materials, and nighttime beach visits are prohibited. Carry all trash back to the mainland.

The camp proceeds in rain but will be canceled for extreme weather, with a rescheduled date or refund offered. Dinner can be brought or purchased from specified island or Long Wharf-area vendors.
