AVAM’s free Thursday-night program combines museum access, creative activities, and an outdoor screening of Men in Black (1997). The featured family activity is a Build-an-Alien workshop, held from 6:30–8 p.m. in the classroom or outdoors. It is open to all ages, although an adult must help children when hot-glue guns are used.
Evening schedule
- 5–9 p.m.: Free admission to the museum and Sideshow shop
- 6:30–8 p.m.: Build-an-Alien workshop
- 7:30–8:30 p.m.: Dance workshop with Dance Baltimore in the Jim Rouse Visionary Center
- 8:45 p.m.: Outdoor movie begins on the Federal Hill side of the Jim Rouse Visionary Center
Families should bring blankets or lawn chairs and may pack their own snacks. Popcorn, soda, and food-truck options are available for purchase. In extreme weather, the screening relocates to the third floor of the Jim Rouse Visionary Center. Pets are welcome in outdoor areas; only service animals may enter museum buildings.
