Create and decorate a self-portrait with patterns, symbols, sparkle, and other details that express personal style and identity. The activity takes inspiration from Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture, an exhibition exploring how Fletcher’s jewelry contributes to storytelling, Black identity, and the cinematic worlds of films including Black Panther and Coming 2 America.

This flexible program welcomes makers of all ages and abilities in the Charles Street Building’s Level 2A Sculpture Court. Families may participate briefly or remain for the full session. Children ages 0–5 receive expanded activity options during the first hour.

Accessibility

Headphones, sensory kits, and Spanish-language printed materials are available. Families may contact the museum’s Visitor Experience team with accommodation questions or requests.
