Pedernales Falls State Park

Thirty miles west of Austin, Pedernales Falls offers limestone cascades, picnicking, wildlife watching, and a Junior Ranger activity with important river-safety limits.

The river can rise rapidly. Swimming and wading are prohibited in the falls area; the separate swimming area requires a strenuous hike with steep rock stairs.
