Wild Encounter: Petting Zoo Painters

Meet an Animal Care Team member and watch either a goat or sheep—nicknamed “VanGoat” and “Baaahlo”—create a painting using positive-reinforcement training. Families learn how training and enrichment support animal care, and each registered group takes home one canvas. A specific animal cannot be guaranteed.

Meet at the Petting Zoo in Outback Station 15 minutes early. Children 15 and younger need an accompanying adult, and ages 3 and younger must remain with their adult group members. Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required; strollers and wagons cannot enter behind-the-scenes areas, and clothing may get dirty. Photography is allowed, but video is not.

Advance reservations are recommended because capacity is limited. Zoo admission is separate. Some encounter areas have uneven terrain, tight spaces, loud sounds or low lighting; families needing accommodations can contact Zoo Atlanta Education before booking.
