Mirai Kanai introduces families to Eisa, an Okinawan folk tradition combining synchronized dance, energetic calls and the resonant beats of hand drums and large taiko drums. Originally performed during Obon to honor ancestors, Eisa has grown into a year-round celebration of Okinawan culture. Performances begin at 10 and 10:45 a.m.
The show is on the shaded Great Lawn. Bring a blanket or ground cover for potentially damp grass and see the greeter about 10 minutes before the session. No show reservation is required; children must attend with an adult. Inclement weather may move the performance indoors or cause cancellation.
